Nahh, that was just me DDoS'ing this site from 30+ IP's 
My guess: some peeps were one holiday, didn't go / have the chance to go online much (if any), came back in the last few days & hit their beloved forums and news sites en masse after a few weeks of internet starvation. Where a few dozen simultaneous visitors counts as busy for this forum...
