I find the best way to learn something new is to document it. So, in learning the music tracker ZXBETA, I wrote a User Guide and Tutorial. It can be found here:

The ZXBETA software can be found on this forum in the post:

You say in the manual that the "height" control isn't used which I suspect is a copy/paste from the ZX81 tracker manual Yerz wrote some 12 years ago.

https://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/6668 ... tion-ayym/

However whilst chiptuners may not use it as it cannot transpose envelopes, it was designed and is usable for quick key changes with out having to resequence large patterns of tone notes so worth mentioning in any guide I would have thought. or are you saying it's somehow disabled in Andy's tracker?

Also there is nothing to see at the ZX-format site link provided in the manual which has to be typed into the address bar for it to work, a copy and open link dodah leads to a 403 forbidden page likewise Yerz's link in the manual.

Also out of curiosity when did Andy provide help with this?

Moggy,

On the Height option, I quote from Yerz:
"HEIGHT (nobody uses it for 20 years or so. Don't You start),"

and in an e-mail from Andy (from March 1):
"IIRC Height is a per position setting and alters the overall pitch of the currently playing pattern, nobody uses it (well hardly)"

with both the author and an tracker expert saying it is not used or to not use it, I just said "not used".

for ZX Format, it looks like the dash in between ZX and Format did not survive a cut-n-paste. Here is the link:

Thanks Tim.

I have read it through and it's an excellent guide even for someone like myself who is familiar with the tracker, plus like all your other PDFs over the years nice sized, clear readable type making reading easy especially for old dino's like me.

Great job. :D

Moggy.
