15th ZX81 users meeting in Germany in april 2011

Post by Zschopower »

Hi folks,

let me tell you about 15th annual ZX-TEAM-meeting from friday 15th of april 2011 at 6 PM until sunday 17 of april at noon.
Like in the past years we will meet in Mahlerts, a very small village near the town of Fulda in the heart of Germany.
I've once again rented a complete "youth hostel" with several meeting rooms, a kitchen and 11 bedrooms for us.
We offer full service, so nobody has to leave the house or switch off his ZX81/TS1000 for a long time during the meeting.

If you are crazy enough to come, we would be very happy. :D

I wish that I could afford the trip! I bet you folks have a whoop-up time.
I think my ZX and I could both use a bit of time out of the house. Germany sounds nice.....

Anyway, I really do wish I could attend, and I look forward to hearing how it went for ya all.
All the best,

Ah, so car only.
Well, 900Km isn't any huge distance here, but I'm rather not a driver.
And I don't think I'd find one, as my friends nearby are mostly Spectrum-oriented, not ZX81.

Don't be shy!
Norbert, Dirk, Dieter Hucke, Roelof and Rudy are keen Spectrum users too. It is not forbidden to use this colorfull machine at the meeting.
But please, if possible, turn of the sound.
That's why I love the ZX81: binary color and no sound ;)

I was hoping to make a pilgrimage to a zx-team meeting one year. It can't be this year though.

16th - possibly!

That's one of my problems!
The meeting isn't finished, has not even started, but "everyone" is talking about the next one. ;) ;) ;)

What will happen, when I retire from organizing ZX-TEAM-meetings?

Well, you invited a well known, renowned, respected and popular ZX Spectrum musician to a ZX party but told him "please, no sound". That's a major turn-off for any musician. :-P Yerzmyey has been trying to bring the AY-chip wonders to the ZX81 world. If someone takes a Zon-X(?) AY interface to that meeting, Yerzmyey is the only person I know in the world who could make the ZX81 compete with the ZX Spectrum in terms of sound. If I were you I would tell ZX81 users to pay for his trip!

Movies without sound had their beauty too, but sound adds depth. The ZX81 needs to impress, and for that sound is a must. If anyone can do it is Yerzmyey, but he needs support. That meeting will probably have all the "brains" who can help Yerzmyey bring new life to the ZX81. You guys needs demos on YouTube that make people say "I can't believe that was done on a ZX81!".

Hi Bruno!

I agree: Sound is great - I love the ZON-X and the great Sound-Games ! There is a lot of Sound on the Meeting (mostly form the people themselfs, but also form these great machines that we all love)...

And also color! I have a Color-IF for the ZX81 - but I didn´t know how to use. I will bring this to the next Meeting...

What Peter really wanted to say was: we can also program without sound ;-)

Many Greetings
Jens
eyerything will be okay in the end.
if it´s not okay, it´s not the end.

Fair enough. But it would be nice to see documentation, videos and pictures being uploaded and shared, not just of people walking around (like last time) but actual stuff happening on ZX81 screens. Demos, programs, new ideas, music, explanation of how the color interface works (so people can build a clone), preservation of any eprom contents found on rare interfaces, etc etc. At least that's what I would want if I traveled hundreds of miles to see other Sinclair users. I would also take non-working machines and hope that someone over there would setup a nice repair area for resurrecting computers and peripherals, etc.
