I may have asked this in the past but does anyone know of any "active" user groups for the ZX81 / TS1000 in the USA preferably in the Chicago land area so I can attend them onsite? I saw one site online but it looked like it hadn't been active since the latest newsletter was dated 1998.
Thanks,
Tim
ZX81 / TS1000 User Groups in USA (Chicago land area)?
Re: ZX81 / TS1000 User Groups in USA (Chicago land area)?
There was the Chicago Area Timex Users Group which had the newsletter "Nite Time News". As far as I know they have disbanded. This user group was all inclusive (ZX81, T/S 2068 & QL). Bob Swoger is still active in a CoCo group in Chicago and I believe that group might allow some Sinclair discussion. Do a Google Search for the Glenside Color Computer Club. They might also be on the way out as they held their "last" CoCo Fest.
I think in general that all Sinclair User Groups in the US are pretty much defunct. I know active Sinclair users in the US, but it's been a while since I've heard that any group was still meeting.

I agree with swensont I don't think there are any Sinclair groups but there may be some retro computer groups.
Back in the early 80's I was involved in Centre County Sinclair Users group located at Penn State University ran by a gentleman that had a small business selling a quick file loading hardware add on for the ZX81. Then I moved to Washington DC and got involved with CATS (Capitol Area Timex Sinclair Users Group).
I would be interested to know if there is a retro computer group located around Cleveland OH, Pittsburgh, PA or Erie, PA.

blittled,
What years were you in Wash DC and involved with CATS? I was a member of that group from early 1989 until early 1993. I remember many a meeting at the New Carrolton Library.

Sorry for such a late reply. I was a member of CATS in 1985. I was only in DC for one year. I remember the New Carrolton Library too.
