Jupiter Ace redrawn (next step from the ZX80?)

Post by zx80nut »

I know not "strictly" Sinclair, but is a development team offshoot from what I remember, so I hope you don't mind me posting this, but "I've been at it again" (or, as my wife would put it, "got too much spare time.") Just as I did for the ZX80, I've been doing for the Jupiter Ace (those who know me will understand). I'm just double-checking and pixel-perfecting the track layouts for the Ace which I will upload in a couple of days.

You can see my WIP on my ZX80 sister page - the Jupiter Ace page

Here's a preview...

(I've also re-done the Jupiter Ace logo at the top of the page accurately traced over the case logo)

Regards.

Grant.

Hi.
I have now uploaded the track layouts (etc.) in a PDF file - same as I did for the ZX80.
Various other page updates done, including modifications needed to install 2732 EPROMS on this (and the original) board.

This may be of interest to those, like Myself, with no board building skills.

Hi Moggy, glad to read you again! Hope you are getting better.
I'm not going to bid on this as postage to Germany (and back to UK) does not make sense.
If anyone is going to bid it would be wise to post this here. So we would not interfere and raise the price more than necessary.
I would be very interested in a single PCB.
However I feel it would be to spread the PCBs to more people.
So if you bid and would offer one to me you can pm me about the price I'm willing to pay for a single board.
Kind regards
Paul
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Price has just gone up to £56.00. Just before this, I asked the seller for some close-up photos.

So is anyone here bidding?

Ah, I also asked for more detailed photos :)
The initial picture looked like they were new copies, however, the updated pics show they are genuine issue 2 PCBs.
I think that given the current price, the final bid price will be a bit high (maybe too high for them to actually get used (probably just kept as-is), which is a shame).

Already too high for me, but I'm interested to see what they eventually go for.

Not sure how much interest there is in the Jupiter Ace, but maybe someone can manufacture some boards, as they did for my ZX80 layouts ;)

More to come in the page when I get time - circuit description, re-draw of the circuit as the original writing is a bit hard to read, drill hole coordinates and converter boards to allow more commonly available RAM to be used in place of the pairs of 2114's (ie. replacements as I did when I constructed the original on veroboard and published on the web back in '97)

- Crikey, just realised that the original web page I did on this was SIXTEEN years ago. I'm feeling old...

@Mark
@Paul
Thanks for Your good wishes Gentlemen nearly back to full speed. :D

As for the boards they are up at £58.00 with 5 bidders at the moment, I agree with Grant that the price is high and these are going to sell for a stupid price eventually so no bids from Me I'm afraid. :(
