Re: ZX81 Modulo example.

I was just going to reply but you beat me to it! But your original code is fine for a ZX80 as it works with only integer arithmetic. :D

Great stuff! Any more?

Re: ZX81 Patents

Here's the guy listed as the inventor: http://panda.bg.univ.gda.pl/~janusz/

He lists two Z80 projects in his recent hardware project list!

Re: Jupiter Ace Project

a pile of junk (gosh did I say that?) Off with his head  Fancy saying that about a cousin of a Zeddy :o You are right that it would have to be the right kind of buyer. Maybe a collector that has plenty of money :) Mark Haha... I don't mean that the Jupiter ACE is a pile of junk! Just ...

Re: ZX80 8K ROM original keyboard layout

Okies. I've looked at the (out of date?) EO source online and I don't think it would be difficult to add support for it alongside the other ROMs - if it's wanted, of course. I still don't know if the ROM even works on real hardware!

Re: Jupiter Ace Project

It's great that the archive still exists, but £16,000 for what is, practically speaking, a pile of junk (gosh did I say that?) - you'd need to be the right kind of buyer. Assuming the tapes work and can be transferred online for posterity, all that really remains is ownership of the brand - the cass...

Re: ZX80 8K ROM original keyboard layout

Ah, I've just had a look at EO and it seems that several ROM entry points are trapped to support the saving and loading. For the ZX80, it will expect the routines to follow the layout of the original ZX80 routines but of course this new ROM follows the ZX81 layout as it supports saving with a filena...

Re: ZX80 8K ROM original keyboard layout

Probably because the SAVE/LOAD entry points have moved. I'll see if they're far out, I can probably move them a few bytes either way so that they line up with where they were in the ZX81 ROM. There could be several emulators that detect it that way, so it would be good to be able to work with them. ...

Re: ZX80 8K ROM original keyboard layout

Well I've updated the ROM file on my share folder - it now has the above changes, including the font. Give it a spin when you have time!

Re: ZX80 8K ROM original keyboard layout

Okay, here's what Steve Vickers had to say: I don't have the original ROM, and can't remember the answers to your specific questions. The fundamental problem at the time was that the ROM was full with less than a dozen bytes to spare, and we had to be fairly ruthless about dropping features that cou...
