Yup, that bit looks similar but the rest won't work on the Dragon.

MSX? That's a Microsoft BASIC with some oddities from other BASIC variants I'm more familiar with.

Re: Whoa?! Conductive rubber? In the 80s?

Thanks guys - I really appreciate the info. It might come in extremely handy for me in the future.

The joycard (weird name) works fine but I couldn't resist taking it apart. :D I wonder if the approach taken here is more or less reliable than the use of microswitches etc.

Whoa?! Conductive rubber? In the 80s?

Wasn't sure where to post this but since there are a lot of smart folk here into their tinkering, I thought I'd post it here. Just taking apart a gamepad for a Sharp X1, which has the usual arrangement of button pressing down some conductive padding which bridges two contacts on the PCB. The pad did...

Re: GUI operating systems?

Since i COULD use a floppy drive as a makeshift hard drive, wouldnt it make more sense to truly modernize it, trying to adapt a solid state laptop drive to it? Yup. I'm working on my own Z80 based computer off and on at the minute and have plans for a large solid state storage device in there. Oh a...

Re: GUI operating systems?

Did anyone ever make a disk drive for the ZX81? Don't think I've ever seen an OS (GUI or otherwise) on a machine which had no removable storage... After all, what would you use it for? Maybe someone should think about porting CP/M or writing an OS for ZXpand based systems. Won't be me - I don't have...

Re: JOY81 - Programmable Joystick Interface for ZX81

I presume VAT will still have to be paid when an item is sold to a customer, but maybe the UK postal service charge of £8 can be avoided? From memory - yes you'll pay customs, but the couriers/postal service will still charge you way too much money for processing the customs fees UNLESS you opted t...

I've not actually got it out of the wrapping yet mate

Bought one in case I needed it in the future - didn't really have an immediate reason for the purchase. :)

Re: JOY81 - Programmable Joystick Interface for ZX81

Might be interested - only in the Joystick board though, I already have one of Poke's extenders that I've not used yet. :)
