Re: Remanufactured ULAs?
Cheers mate - this one's not actually my ZX so if I can't figure things out I'll offer your services to my friend. I just end up with broken 81s because people know I've been able to fix a few, but I'm certainly no expert on them.

Re: Remanufactured ULAs?
External RAM introduces seemingly random black marks to the white background. Not really sure what that means... Could just be that the edge connector isn't making good contact, or maybe it points back to the ULA.

Re: Remanufactured ULAs?
The two ULAs I bought on eBay both work so far, though.... but I want a more constant source. Are you sure your ZX81 has a fully working CPU and RAM? Hmmm. Mine came from eBay too. I'm pretty sure about the CPU - scoped the M1 and REFRESH lines etc and they look like healthy signals to me. Not sure...

Re: Remanufactured ULAs?
Has anyone else experienced failures with these recently appeared ULAs (other than the very useful post by the OP)? I've just put one in a long dead '81 (CPU was working but no video output) and am now getting a white screen (no K prompt). The process was not a very smooth one but I'm 99% sure every...

Re: Sinclair C5
I am so tempted. Lol.
But no idea when I'd use it - my journey to work (and just about every other trip) takes me onto a motorway, and I don't fancy the idea of driving a C5 in 70+Mph traffic.

Re: Help with ZX81 loading screen for new emulator
Awww. I was hoping you were going to tell me they'd relaxed their rules about downloading code. Oh well. Yeah, I've seen a few BASIC emulators on there and things like Codea which let you type in programs but are heavily limited in how they can import code. I think a bit of common sense is needed he...

Re: Help with ZX81 loading screen for new emulator
The objective is to produce an emulator running on iOS devices, as Apple has relaxed it's criteria on emulator submissions. Can you elaborate? PM me if you don't want to drag the thread off-topic but I'm interested. Last I saw, they were still pretty tight on anything which lets you load executable...
