Re: Using a paint stripper heat gun to de-solder?

I have a PCB that I somehow managed to solder the chip sockets to the wrong side of the board (old age is unkind at times). After considering using a solder sucker, heat gun, etc. to free them from the board I am going try something a little different. I bought a 1x1x2 block of copper that matches t...

Re: zx80 clone which is the best most accurate?

Yes, it is the same guy (Plamen) who did the Jupiter ACE. Hopefully my experience will go as well as yours and Phill's, assuming everything was to your satisfaction. I can 3D print my own case, but maybe this will get me motivated to get back to work on my vacuum forming project. I have the decal fi...

Re: zx80 clone which is the best most accurate?

I am waiting on the arrival of the reproduction kit sold by Oricfan on Ebay. From what I understand it is based on Grant's design with a couple of corrections made so there should be no issues with compatibility.

Has anyone else on the group built one of his kits before?

Re: ZX80 3K Ram Pack memory

A little update on the RAM Pack seems to be in order here. Since the last episode all of the chips are now socketed and installed on the board as modified by Mr. Robson. The changes to the board consist of correcting the two crossed tracks that had required a little cutting and two jumpers installed...

Re: ZX Printer Belt

For all who are interested, here are the .STL files for the ZXprinter belt. One file is the original design that includes the two posts that hold the styli onto the belt. The tops of the posts can be gently melted down to secure the stylus. The other design file does not include the posts, and the s...

Re: ANOTHER BUILD A ZX80 PAGE

I noticed while looking at your site that you mentioned being unable to find the long-pin edge connectors. If you still need them perhaps I can help. I have a box full of them.

Mike

Re: ZX Printer Belt

Thanks, Paul. Making them is about as tedious as picking fly poop out of black pepper  , but now have a process that is fairly repeatable. They may require a tiny bit of tweaking but not much.

Re: ZX Printer Belt

Making excellent progress on reproducing the printer belt stylus. The one on the left circled in red is the original.

Re: ZX Printer Belt

After several failures at coming up with a method of reproducing the stylus I have finally arrived at a reliable method.

Here is a photo of a "phase one" prior to trimming the legs and bending the ends. I'm sure that part will be fun as well.
