Re: New game in 1K Hires: Wiwo Dido, the case of Mazeddy's Castle
Dr Beep: probably You already know, but just in case: games for ZX81 have to be small, so there is no place for "Redefine" in 1K games. Instead people release several version (2 or so) with different sets of keys. Of course when time allows. I am rearranging the code and trying to find some room fo...

Re: 30 years of ZX81 - a NEW COMPO??
Hello Yerz, there is a distinct difference between a 1K game and a 1K RAM game. Storing a game in 1K and using 16K of memory is much easier than a full game in 1K RAM. My tribute this year will be some 1k Hiresgames in 1K RAM. I am already working on another approach of the limited screendata on a f...

So Siggi , you confirm it runs on a unmodified ZX81 1K RAM?siggi wrote:No, you HAVE Hires! Use a 1K Zeddy (it's a 1K game!) and you have Hires: the 1K internal ram supports Hires ...yerzmyey wrote:Aaaargh, it's a pity I don't have the Hi-Res modification.

Re: New game in 1K Hires: Wiwo Dido, the case of Mazeddy's Castle
no pun intended but... its amazing what can be squeezed into 1K when you put your mind to it. excellent work, have not tried it on a 'real' zeddy yet, but on the Eightyone the response to the keys seems a little fast and it can be difficult to stop at a junction. Regards Andy Andy, This is only the...

True,
response is fast, but I can slow it down.
BTW, here is the code.

New game in 1K Hires: Wiwo Dido, the case of Mazeddy's Castle
Hello, I made a 1K RAM HiRes game for the ZX81. "Wiwo Dido and the case of Mazeddy's Castle" During the search for Mazeddy's Castle Wiwo Dido fell through the roof and with his torch he must find 5 keys to get to the exit (set on the right). The found keys are displayed on top of the maze so you can...

My HiRes coding challenge
Having seen WRX1K I was thinking of my own version of HiRes in 1K. A full screen game with a partial HiRes screen. By moving a HiRes character in a maze (the Wiwo Dido character from the case of the closing doors) you will move the displaying part of the maze too. In fact you walk in the dark and yo...

Re: ZX81 to ZX Spectrum conversion possible
Oh man, how did I miss this? Instead of converting software, you can run it! Any 48K Speccy with an Interface 2 and a ZX81 emulator cartridge will do. A 128K +2A, +2B or +3 can also run ZX81 software without any additional hardware. Lookup Paul Farrow's website and you'll see. There is a topic on W...
