I did say it was a 31 year old cassette! Rescued from a dusty attic with the mouse droppings removed...

Another mystery .WAV from a tape
Hi guys. You have been so helpful in the past. I've found what I think is a very early tape of mine, possibly from 1981. I have no idea what the programs stored on it are. They could be something I wrote or could be type ins or even conceivably pirated software. I have had no luck loading them into ...

Re: Strange/rare ? software
I think those ICL tapes are pretty common. They were fair value given that you got a variety of programs on each tape but they were all written in BASIC. The 16K tapes were better. Some of these programs were re-used for the Spectrum in the very early days but didn't sell well. I think I had most of...

Re: [NEW ZX81 GAME RELEASE] Avalanche
There are people willing to pay for new ZX81 games in 2012....and I am one of them.
Just recovering from a major PC crash, having bought a new PC and starting the mammouth project of recovering everything from multiple backup drives...but I am very interested in the two new games

Re: ZX81 Tape Woes...
I find the best way is to use a cassette player/recorder. I've tried my phone, laptop and so on playing MP3 and WAV files all to no avail. Even tried burning to CD and using a portable CD player. The most reliable source seems to be a cassette recorder. Currently I am using a handheld (walkman sized...

Re: ZXpand Amusing Incompatibility
Just for the record, my ancient Zeddy with the original klutzed Rom and no 'fix' works fine with ZXpand.

Re: Catacombs (JK Greye)
Catacombs was published in 1981, so it is quite possible it appeared before Rogue. But the chances are both were developed independently.

Re: Catacombs (JK Greye)
Catacombs was the first 16K ZX81 game that I bought. I remember the advertising at the time boasted that it was a "graphical adventure" unlike all the text adventures at the time. I doubt that John Greye would have seen Rogue, which according to the all-knowing WIkipedia was developed and played on ...

Re: Emulator for Android
Thanks it does indeed work!
Looks like to shift a key you have to press shift and then the desired key.....I guess the Android virtual keypad can't detect two simultaneous key presses?
