Re: truth table program and Bidmead articles

Dear Dr Beep
Now I've found my password I can log in and say thank you! A year late but better late than never!

I've also tracked down the E&CMs with the original truth tables I saw in 1982 - so I'll compare with yours and post!

Re: Spreading the Zeddy word

Yes, I have mentioned retro-computing and got astonishment. People have heard of emulators, but 'real' computers with zxpand etc. comes as a shock. It does generate interest. Only the other day I was discussing the virtues of Nemesis the Warlock with a chap in the corridor who is now determined to s...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Hiya Moggy! how are you doing? Hey that looks very interesting! I'll be exploring his page for sure! By the way, I was going to mail you to say I am going all DivIDE (once my CF etc. arrives). The Spectrum Forth is happening and I found a copy of the original book! So, all is brulliant!! many thanks...

Re: Wanted - assembly instructions for LPK-1 logic probe

Wow! never give up on a question on this forum! Just to say first I have nothing except the parts! The LEDs are unmarked but the other parts are. Capacitors are straight out of Dan Dare, great whopping things that can also be used in art installations. The LEDs are 5mm tho I suppose you can see that...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Hi good people Thanks or the info (I love the way people share tips here!). Just to say where I at: I am currently building the original real robots Cybot, and am getting to the programming stage. Though I know that people who've already done this have hacked the Cybot PICs and re-programmed in C (o...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Hi again @Mark - thanks for that. As daft as it sounds I never thought to look through the Wikipedia page. I understand that WP is now more accurate than Encyclo Brit. I am having a play with the PIC16F - I shall see where that takes me. I am going to work through the wiki talk page, there s...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Hi Retrotechie many thanks for your comments Yes, as you say "Don't know where you get that idea... maybe there's some interesting projects that happen to use 8 bit CPU's (easier to construct?), but other than that you might as well say that a lot of cutting edge research revolves around wires & cir...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Brilliant stuff as I anticipated! @Pokemon & Mark - this makes a lot of sense. So, its clearly not just 'ease of IC development and programming' that governs the continued use of Z80. I can also see the logic, as you say, of 8bit in the microcontroller field where the applications are highly special...

Re: 2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Thank you Sirmorris for an interesting answer! :) Yes I see that 8 bit is big in the hobbyist world, but I was surprised to discover that, for example, the Cog project at MIT is full of 8 bit tech. And at the other end of the spectrum university cybernetics labs at Reading and Wales have been using ...

2 bit question on the 8 bit machine

Hi and happy new year to one and all, I hope people don't mind me asking slightly off task question here - everyone here seems to know so much. I perhaps should say I was first introduced to computing through pop11 and then into AI. AI programming takes you well away from hardware as far away as a f...
