Re: CMOS Z80 CPUs For Sale

The sad truth is that there are very few electronics 'hobbyists' around any more. That's why Tandy upped and went in the late 90's and they'd already tried to cling to the ladder with cheap "hi fi" and other high profit gizmos. The Luton Maplin is OK if you want audio cables and adaptors but no good...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs

Other vendors are selling what looks visually to be a similar or identical article, posting from the far East. They have good feedback so I imagine the unit works for hooking up VCR, DVD or digiboxes to VGA monitors. If it works for vintage computers with composite outputs then it may have found a c...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs

I'm not bidding for now so go ahead. I'm still investigating with my two Zedddies where they do and don't work (one modded for composite, one not)

For connecting a modded ZX81 to a VGA monitor? If so, did you have any success?

Just a quick note about Rapid, we buy from them at work and their service is *excellent*.

Re: ZX81 Software releases

As far as the UK goes I think "abandonware" has become something of an urban legend. As pointed out above, there is no basis in law. The rights to those games, even 30 year old computer games, are still held by somebody. In some cases it is the author, in other cases the house which published the wo...

POKE 16510,0

I remember using that one to prevent people from removing REM statements proclaming my copyright to a listing :)

Re: How do I find out...

The program immediately above will give you the total RAM present but not how much is free. It will return the same answer whether you've started anew or done the pokes after entering 15K of code.

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs

OK tried the modded ZX81 on my LCD television at home for a longer period and it worked pretty well for 20 minutes, then started jumping around and showing a yellow background. And even when working fine, if I add a RAM pack (obviously while the power is off) the image disappears. I get a pattern sl...

Re: Basic Error

It is slightly quicker by about half a second in FAST mode if you use:

IF NOT SQR (N) = INT(SQR(N)) THEN GOTO 130
