Re: Working on a new game in 16K lores : preview
That is looking really, really good. The best thing on the '81 since 3D Monster Maze Indeed potentially better!

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs
Took the Zeddy home to meet my other Zeddy (hmm, will they reproduce if I give them some privacy?) and to hook the modded machine up to my AOC LCD television. Curious. Hooked up direct to the TV I get a very nice picture, totally stable with no strobing or other effects apart from small background p...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs
OK I performed the mod on my early ZX81 (ULA dated 12th week 1981) using a BC108 transistor and 100 Ohm resistor. Success. Here are two photos of the display on a TV where the RF input produced a very dark and partially inverted screen. The display was adjusted with max brightness and contrast, zero...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs
All my zeddies have this mod, both porched and porch-free. I get pretty good displays but there are certain output devices which fail - a colour portable and the main lcd tv. The cruddier devices such as my pctv card, old cctv monitor and eztv adapter all work nicely. So, in summary - it _might_ wo...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs
Will the simple composite mod for the Zeddy (NPN transistor and 100 Ohm resistor) work with an Issue 1 board and early ULA? I've now got two such machines and they display awfully on my LCD television, even if looped through a DVD recorder or VCR. In fact the most stable display is direct into the T...

Re: Displaying old computers on new TVs
I wonder if there would be a niche market among various types of retro computer/gaming fans for a one channel analogue tuner with composite or possibly VGA or HDMI output? I am thinking of something that can take an RF signal, has a proper analogue knob or thumbwheel tuner and can output to modern d...

Lucky me given a ZX81
I seem to be living a charmed life at the moment, friends are giving me free beer and computers. I've been given a near mint ZX81 with a 4K graphics ROM upgrade, I am assuming this is ths DK'Tronics unit. And a Sinclair 16K RAM pack, all boxed and known to be working. I haven't tried them or opened ...

Re: Introducing me
Thank you kind sir....and the keyboard even works!
I've decided to keep it in original condition without doing the Composite mod. It just needs new feet as the previous owner removed them, presumably to get at the screws.
