Re: FIF. Another FORTH.

Quick question re the maths operators which whilst specific to FIF could apply to others I suppose. The zeddy computes and displays to 8 decimal figures but FIF/Forth to 10 (with reasonable scaling) so does FIF use it own standalone maths operators or does it pinch something from zeddies ROM then ad...

Re: Alphacom 32 PSU?

Same plug size as zeddy power pack and obviously corresponding socket. No, Zeddy uses 3,5 mm plugs, the printer 2,5 mm plugs. Must have been the Venusian loobdingle translation matrix I was using, sorry. ;) @Lardo. And don't forget to put the tenner inside my card this year, you forgot last time. :...

Re: Alphacom 32 PSU?

Plug on the printer. Socket on the power supply. Same plug size as zeddy power pack and obviously corresponding socket. Make sure wires well separated/insulated from each other as it is a tight fit in side the plug/socket and do connect together before powering up as even 20 odd volts ac can do a bi...

Re: FIF. Another FORTH.

Hi Alan. Yes real kit with issue three spand. I have three spand+ but not too fond of using them for any length of time till I get a regulated 7.5v supply for them. Try using a normal power pack and very carefully stick your finger on the 5 and 3 volt regs that are side by side on the back of the sp...

Re: Help on MIC-Output ZX81

Apologies Mark I got my sockets mixed up. Your diagram is the way to go from a power supply point of view and should be quite noiseless. I am curious as to where he is deriving his 3.3-5v supply from given what the Sinclair power brick kicks out. @Werner. Could you supply a schematic or diagra...

Re: Help on MIC-Output ZX81

In this application we mainly need voltage gain rather than power gain. But the amplifier must be a low noise type. The voltage gain has to be in the order of about 5600! That kind of gain would get you to about 2.8V AC. A 74LS14 input needs 2V DC to ensure it sees a logic 1 input. But it’s possibl...
