Re: Modern SMD Z80 Equivalent.
Cheers guys. As regards the ULA I was planning to do it in SMD using discreet component, as it would save a lot of space. I did a quick Google the other day and there are a few circuits out there that do the same thing. In fact pretty much all of it will be SMD. For the PSU's I'm probably going for ...

Re: Modern SMD Z80 Equivalent.
Cheers Mark. The reason I asked is that I have a mind to make a miniature ZX80 and 81 using SMD components. And rather than use FPGA I'd rather use the real things, or as close to the real devices as possible. Out of interest what would be the closest modern device to use in place of the ROMs used i...

Re: ZX81 Joystick interface
I still have an AGF joystick interface. Its programmed by 10 wires with crocodile clips on the end.
Quite handy as it meant you can map any keyboard commands.
Can't remember if this version of the interface was zx80/81 only though
Kind regards
Andy

Modern SMD Z80 Equivalent.
Hi.
I'm looking at the modern Z80 SMD processors that are available.
Am I correct in thinking that the eZ80 is the closest modern equivalent?
I'm looking at the 20MHz 8-bit 128K Flash EZ80F92AZ020EG.
Kind regards.
Andy

Re: G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
Interesting thread. I picked up one of these off Ebay about 2 years ago for a couple of quid. It was sold along with about a dozen other modules including some unfinished Maplin products. Anyway did a bit of a search and turned up this: Notting Dale Technology Center LTD according to ZX Computing Au...

Re: ZX80 at last....
Hi. I sourced both the resonators and the 6.5536MHz crystal oscillators from Farnell. https://uk.farnell.com/c/crystals-oscillators/crystals?frequency-nom=6.5536mhz Depending on where you live you could use Mouser or Digikey. The the legs of the crystal oscillator go to the two outer holes where the...

Re: ZX80 at last....
Will do. I don't think I had much else to do. Replace the broken off ceramic resonator with a crystal oscillator and replace the voltage regulator. Hopefully the EPROM is still viable, I've kept it out of direct UV light, but it depends on how the previous owner stored it. If needs be I'll erase and...
