Re: [OT] Tri-state line drivers

To enable devices on the ext. side to supply data to the CPU, the direction input must be gated by both the CPU /RD signal and the output of an address decoder. The address decoder will generate an active signal only when the CPU addresses the address space of the available ext. devices. Thanks Mar...

Re: [OT] Tri-state line drivers

Argh, my head hurts. Unfortunately, the board i'm copying is super-rare. Can't even source one from Japan at the minute. The expansion box lets you connect multiple I/O cards which have daisy-chained interrupt signals but everything else is just passed through to all cards. And that's the problem. I...

[OT] Tri-state line drivers

Apologies for this being a little off topic - although it'd be easy enough to bring the discussion into the ZX realm. I really wanted to ask this on SinclairZXWorld because of the large number of super-smart people here. :) I need to replicate the functionality of an expansion board for the Sharp X1...

Re: NEW (PAPER) MAGAZINE ABOUT ZX-81 (free :) )

The beauty of English is that as long as we can understand each other, the exact words and phrases do not matter. On the other hand, the continuing evolution of a language is not an excuse to disregard standard and widespread interpretations in favour of your own idiosyncrasies. Exact words and phr...

Re: Possible Project - slightly off-topic!

My first printer was a dot matrix Mannesnann-Tally. The process above looks about right to me except for a few missing steps along the lines of the random prints using up the last of my paper and me going crying to my parents to buy me some more. Edit: Think I gave up quite often and decided it was ...

Re: NEW (PAPER) MAGAZINE ABOUT ZX-81 (free :) )

Hmmm. Will have a think.

I'd have loved this on newsstand (no good for non iOS folk though) and might have even offered to set it up for y'all and write any code needed but (long story) I'm loosing access to my intel Mac so won't be developing on iOS for a while.

Didn't Amazon recently open up self-publishing options on Kindle? Obviously not all the readers would be able to view the graphics, but the Kindle apps for smarter systems would.

Re: NEW (PAPER) MAGAZINE ABOUT ZX-81 (free :) )

Well... I have read a couple of the PDFs and I do like it, but to be honest, I'm not interested in buying paper.

I know you really wanted this to be a hard copy but for me, that's no good. If this was (for example) delivered through newsstand on iOS then I'd be buying every issue.
