Re: "Different" ZX81's

Interesting! I'll take a closer look tomorrow. But if it is a bad trace that means Sinclair sent me a hacked computer long before that word was even a term! ;) I didn't notice if the resistor they added on the back is the same value as the one on the front. I'll take closer look tomorrow. Unfortunat...

Re: ZX81 packaging

Stop! Please stop! My wallet cannot take it! Boy, I know how that feels! This is the packaging we had this side of the water. The sleeve over the poly type box in the last frame is,thanks to some nice detective work by Fwapp, the earlier packaging whilst the box in frame three the later one us...

Re: "Different" ZX81's

I'm not sure if this constitutes interesting or not but it might add to your information collection. Here is my US issue1 ZX81 as it came to me from Sinclair. I'm the original owner and it's never been modified or repaired (although it also no longer works and thus needs to be repaired) :D It has a ...

Re: "Pristine" ZX80 for sale on eBay

Hi Moggy, Thanks for this msellan. :D An issue three board,I get to see one after thirty odd years at last and definitely the last of the line I would have thought. It has the later matt finish keyboard again nice to see but I'm bemused as to why the UK top case is metallised as in the UK at that ti...

Re: ZX81 packaging

Quite unlike any packaging I've seen here before with early issue one cassette leads(A ZX80 hangover) a nice almost custom box plus a flat bound as opposed to a spring bound manual which I suspect is a US thing,a very very nice example thanks for sharing. :D I wondered about the cassette leads myse...

Re: Better late than never :)

Thanks all for the warm welcomes @gammaray @moggy @torrid. It's good to be here. :D Moggy.(British slang for a mongrel cat. :D ) As you can tell from my avatar, I'm definitely a fan of this heretofore unknown (to me) particular British colloquialism. Love the $1.95 "phone order credit". Hahaha...

Re: "Pristine" ZX80 for sale on eBay

Should you ever strip them down some shots of the engine room would be nice. You read my mind! I actually took it apart a few days ago. I always take everything apart. The biggest surprise to me was that the US case is sprayed with the conductive material both top and bottom whereas th...

Re: "Pristine" ZX80 for sale on eBay

Well, I wanted to share the details of the ZX80 that I bought on ebay recently. I was really excited about this item because of its "pristine" condition. The ZX80 I have came from a guy who tried to build it as a kit and ended up sending it back to Sinclair who replaced the board with a factory one ...

Re: ZX81 packaging

Here's an issue 3 US ZX81 in it's plain brown cardboard container. As I recall my issue 1 ZX81 arrived in a similar box although sadly I didn't have the foresight as a teen to keep it! :(

Better late than never :)

Hello all, I've been registered on this forum for quite a while but have never posted anything. At the end of last year I decided to dust off my ZX computers and start tinkering with them again. Anyway, I've been reading all the incredibly helpful posts here and thought it was time to move from lurk...
