Re: Decimal to Floating Point

David G.

Thanks for the working example. I had been going through the Dr. Logan's ROM book for a number days trying to figure this out. So glad to get help getting it working. Others, thanks for chiming in. Better to get comments that are not perfect than get no comments at all.

Re: Decimal to Floating Point

Thanks for the replies. Stefano - $12C2 is STK-Store and stores registers A, B, C, D, & E to the calculator stack. Logan's book says "Although this subroutine could be used to transfer floating point numbers it is, however, only used to transfer the parameters of strings". It only stores 5 byte (and...

Decimal to Floating Point

I've been looking into using the FP calculator and I've got it working, except for how to convert a decimal number as a string, into an FP number. The ROM has the "decimal to floating point" routine ($14d9) that seems to take a decimal as a string, convert it to FP and put it on the stack. I've trie...

Re: War in the East

I've have also heard that War in the East was published for the TS1000, but I've not seen a copy. It also came out for the QL. As for other wargames for the ZX81, "Admiral Graf Spee" looks to be the closest to a true wargame. There are others that look to be resource management-type games with some ...

Re: ZX 81 development on Linux. What tools?

For assembly, I use PASMO. Documentation is online. sudo apt install pasmo For BASIC, I use zxtext2p. Source is available and it was a quick compile. To convert a .p file to text, then zx81list (source code also available). I also concur with using sz81 as a great ZX81 emulator. It has lots of featu...

Re: ZXzine #7 Posted

Rune,

I've fixed the errors on the page. ZXzine #3 did not have a zip (even though one was listed) and the other problems were just the wrong file names.

Re: How bad was the wobble on the zx81

I faced two issues when I got my ZX81 in Nov. of 81. 1. Kept over heating and crashing I learn not to use the ZX81 on a shag carpet. Once I put it on a desk or such, it was fine. 2. Moving the ZX81 with the 16K pack would cause a crash When the ZX81 was picked up, the 16K pack was not secure enough ...
