If it wasn't Life what was it?
Hi all, There was a very famous program in the 80s - so famous I can't remember the name. It was like Life, Sim or Nim even. The ZX81 version on start up showed a few apparently random dots on screen. As the situation (habitat? world?) evolved the dots became less random and "evolved" into patterns ...

Hi all,
Does anyone know anywhere to get new SD cards @ 64, 128 mb etc. ? I tried amazon with unsatisfactory results. Even my local Asda don't do anything lower than 4 gig now. I don't want my ZX81 to get agoraphobia...

Re: zx81 series differences
Big cheers everyone, that has been a very enlightening discussion! It looks like identification requires some hands on inspection - at least to the underside of the expansion port. I thought there might be some obvious external marker, but anyways, a very educational outcome for me! Thanks again Pro...

zx81 series differences
hi All,
Just a quickie - I was wondering how to tell the difference between zx81 versions simply on opening the box - I've no idea which series mine is and only realised there were differences from this site!
cheers

Re: Any help for a newbie's queries?
Well Gentlemen, I can report multiple successes! All the re-named downloaded files are read exactly as expected :) . I've also had success today with cassettes! I borrowed a few gold trs connectors from some audio stuff and put my tapes through at near top volume and have had 85% success rate with t...

Re: Any help for a newbie's queries?
Hi Paul and Sirmorris, Many thanks both for those replies! Sounds obvious now you say it - so "MinesofSaturn" won't do! Can't wait to give it go. I will report back. Mind you I recall having a good few programs on tape with long REM titles often containing notes and/or descriptions. I presume it sho...

Any help for a newbie's queries?
Hi all, I am enjoying the zx81/zxpand - but would get a great deal more out of it if I could access .p downloaded files; and also had a reliable cassette machine! 1. I have downloaded .p files but when transferred to the zxpand get altered filenames e.g zxchessII.p becomes zxches?1.p . They appear o...

Re: truth table program and Bidmead articles
Thank you yet again Moggy! And for the welcome. I hadn't seen that site for Chris Bidmead, but he's obviously a man to know. Funny, he lists PC/M but I was sure the stuff I saw was in ECM - have to look again. I went on ebay and was very DEPRESSED to see these mags on starting bids of 9.95 each with...
