Re: Yamaha YM1249 / YM2149 ??

thanks once again Andy. The AY sound module is on my shopping list. I think I picked up somewhere on here it could be used with midi - but I'll park that for another day. I have a yamaha midi board and an old 80s Casio synth - would be nice to use the AY sound module in tandem with some other sound ...

Yamaha YM1249 / YM2149 ??

Just me again full of questions and no answers, The sound generator on the RWAP website (if that is the source of the sound on the video on the zx81 page) is listed as the Yamaha YM1249. It certainly sounds authentic to what I recall from days of yore. But, I found this site listing obscure 80s soun...

DC jack and ZX Hygiene

Well good people I now have a 2nd ZX81 from the Ebay. The box it came in is probably the box it has been stored in for 30 years. It smells like the whole thing has been sat in an oil sump of some derelict garage. I would have thought the seller might have cleaned it up a bit before posting. There we...

Re: Keyboard kits

Those keyboards look really useful! Though I love the zx81 I could never get on with the membrane - those keyboard mods look the way to go: though if it's a wiring every key type job it'll have to be for one of my longer holidays!

And move aside Moggy - here comes a thicker forum poster!

cheers

Re: If it wasn't Life what was it?

I did try google (life evolution computer simulation...) as it happens, but input descriptions rather than the headlines I was sea...

Cheers everyone that's really useful - at least there's a number of options even if it's not just a trip to Maplins! (Thanks Marsk and SirMorris) - I look forward to seeing Phil's pictures sounds intriguing,

Re: If it wasn't Life what was it?

WOw!! I'm so happy! :D I did try a search - even wikid it but didn't get the link on RetroTechie's post - but indeed that is what I am looking for. I will try out the versions (ML and Siggi's) that people have posted. If anyone comes across a version in BASIC I'd be interested to see that too; I've ...

Keyboard kits

hi all I'd really like to get some more keyboards. I'd like it most if I could get hold of something like I already have - possibly in kit form. The one in the picture is one I put together from a kit in the 80s. There is an enclosure for it too (next to telly on right), I took the board out to test...
