ZX81 failing the pressure test?

Hi all, I just want to check on any common faults with 81s. My own original ZX81, like many I guess, has spent some of its life in a box in a loft. Now that it's out and about again it works really well. Plugging in RAM packs, Zxpand etc. are all fine. Ebay zx81s seem to be a different breed. Apart ...

Re: Keyboard kits

So who has access to a laser cutter? Or a friendly Dalek ? Cheers. Phill. Never met a friendly Dalek - bought a radio control one for my nephew - took us nearly an hour to free him from the box he had been triple-wire-tied to, and not an ounce of gratitude when we switched him on - just the usual b...

Wanted - assembly instructions for LPK-1 logic probe

Hi all This is a shot in the dark - but as I know many of you were 'in the chip scene' in the 80s it is remotely possible someone has a copy of what I need. If you look through adverts in the usual electronics and computing mags of the time you will see the Global Specialities LPK-1 logic probe kit....

Re: Keyboard kits

And a lot of work to put it together. And in most cases, looks like crap. Therefore I'm tending towards the 'conversion circuit to use PS/2 or USB keyboard' option. Also because it makes replacement easy in case the keyboard gets fubarred somehow. But it would be nice to have a dedicated, goo...

Re: DC jack and ZX Hygiene

Warning: Do not use any solvent based cleaner or even contact cleaner on the membrane tails, or you will probably regret it -- guess how I found out ! :-( One cracked & knackered membrane! The new production membranes may be OK, though! AH!! Thanks for telling me! so disconnect membrane first (and ...

Re: Yamaha YM1249 / YM2149 ??

Hi Jeff, If you have a zx81 midi interface then I'm sure that something could be wired up, but there's no built-in midi support on the ay board, sorry :( C Not to worry, I just like the sound of the AY - I'm sure I'll find another way to get it to trigger (audio output jack from the tv to an anlog/...

Re: DC jack and ZX Hygiene

Rich had a small supply of the jacks. I don't know if he has any left but if not we could arrange something as I have special privileges at Farnell - must be the amount I spend there  ah! cool! I'd certainly buy into your privileges! I'll check with Rich and see if he has any - otherwise I'l...
