Porting PDP11/VAX programs to the ZX81

I recently found online the dumps of the tapes from DECUS, the US user group for Digital stuff back in the earlier eighties. A good part of the programs was created back in the seventies and then adapted to the "new" operating systems, etc. Something was originally written in FORTRAN and then ported...

Re: DarkStar 2

I *think* that the 0/0 prompt is what you get after loading any program without the "autorun" option (reversing the last letter in the filename being saved does the trick). Could it be your case ? Can you enter the RUN command ? Other possibilities are related to emulation limit or wrong HW configur...

Re: MICROMAN

I recently figured out an interesting technique to do hand optimization on the intermediate ASM files generated by z88dk. It implies a temporary personalization of the optimization rules and a set of subroutines written in ASM and incorporated inside the C source of the game. The results, together w...

Re: Programs which use Hi-Res Graphics on the Sinclair ZX81

I found recently an article on an old 1983 Italian magazine (Elettronica 2000) describing an Hi-Res board for the ZX81. http://speccybits.altervista.org/scansioni/e2000_46.rar This article describes a board (including its layout) which is most probably a QS HI-RES clone (the text refers to a resolut...

Re: bugs found on eo

you are right, the glitch exists, and has to do with my driver (I'm not sure why it happens, nor if it is visible on the real zx81). also the frequencies are probably odd, I thought that my theories were right after the successful tests and the confirmation of the test on a real hardware (on a flat ...

Re: Murgatroyd's Revenge (1982) found and uploaded

Many thanks, I also enjoyed the story you just told us, a friend said that his favourite one on the zx81 was the flight simulator, he and his brother used to share the keyboard (and the fun) and drive the plane together.. those memories are very strong :)
