Re: Hidden BASIC lines at end of program space

I am coding directly in a compiler and compile to .P My BASIC is always just 1 line, the call to MC only. My MC is stored in every available address. I have placed my BASIC line call to MC fully over the sysvar. My games have autostart. When you would hack the NXTLIN you still don't get a line of BA...

Re: Execution speed, faster at beginning versus end of long program

Yes this is known issue. Your games best have initialize at then end (only called once) and on a ZX Spectrum DEF FN is better place at the start (scanned first) Often used code is best placed high as possible in the listings. Machinecode will just execute what is at the Program Counter and always po...

Re: Hidden BASIC lines at end of program space

It is UDG (user defined graphics) emulated with WRX hires graphics (Wilf Rigter graphic). (WRX requires a hardware modification to your RAMpack.) One thing that is different is that you are not really hiding basic lines. You just have a huge REM at line 0 and all of your BASIC code comes after. The...

Re: Hidden BASIC lines at end of program space

I was looking for a trick here that I haven't seen discussed yet. Maybe it is, but I just haven't searched thoroughly enough. Anyway, I can describe it here. I have a program in which the last BASIC line, a REM statement, is totally hidden from the program listing. It's intended to contain, of cour...

Re: Greetings from Blaine, Minnesota

Welcome John and you have a lot to pick up after 35 years being banned in the attic. A lot of new games have been developped in the last years and also a lot of hardware. Take a look and download many games from the new games section, including my 1K games in lowres, but even more in 1K HIRES. Have ...

SP2ZX81, beta release for 38th ann. ZX Spectrum

Here is SP2ZX81, my new emulator for the ZX Spectrum 48K. A small present for today's 38th anniversary. I need feedback about look and feel. Place comment in this topic. I added a new game, soon for sale as 1K PATHMAZE with 9 other games. This game can't be copied or saved, it is part of the Z80 sna...

SP2ZX81, the renewed ZX81-emulator for the 48K ZX Spectrum

My ZX81-emulator on the ZX Spectrum is almost rebuilt. What must be supported and what would you like to be supported? Tell me here and I will see what is possible. Speed has increased A LOT! BASIC is practically at speed of real machine. Machinecode is cleverly emulated making games run faster than...

Re: ZXSimulator for the Sinclair QL

I am coding a new emulator and planning to built a converter that will run on a ZX Spectrum emulator, will load .P via BLOCK and SAVE as .TAP Oh cool...would love to play with that eventually... Somewhere in the net is a converter that will convert .p to .tap but it might need DOSBOX Great, I will ...

Re: ZXSimulator for the Sinclair QL

So how do I use the tape conversion program. The BANNER.P file loads and runs fine in the EightyOne ZX81 mode. The conversionprogram only runs on a real ZX Spectrum. It can load ZX81 games in 300 baud and save them as 1500 BAUD TAP-programs. I am coding a new emulator and planning to built a conver...

Re: ZXSimulator for the Sinclair QL

The file starts with a convertor to alter .P into TAP. Second program is the emulator, so just BREAK and load again. When the K appears you can use the emulator. Press 1 and 0 for a menu. A few games are added too. 3D Monster Maze, RED ANTS and Graffity. As for the emulation: you can’t load on the s...
