Conway's Game of Life

Hi all,

Here's a ZX80 listing which kind of simulates John Conway's Game of Life.

Many thanks,

Shaun.

Re: Steven L Reid's BASIC programs

Thanks for the feedback Steve, I'll have a look at those improvements that you mentioned. The POKE is opening the bottom two lines of the screen so that they're writable during the program execution by the interpreter. I intend to put a high score and score there (and maybe use the very bottom line ...

Re: SPeccy ON the ZeddY

I've got SPONZY on instance 7 of my ZXMore, thanks for the tips :-) I'll have to solder in the tape connectors in I think (although I'm not known for my soldering skillz).

Regards,

Shaun.

Re: Steven L Reid's BASIC programs

Hi Steve, Here's a release candidate (the other version I thought that I'd added in a bug so I started again, but as I knew the listing better it didn't take as long). There's still a block that I want to refactor a bit more. So consider this a release candidate. Please let me know if you spot any i...

Re: Steven L Reid's BASIC programs

That's cool. Didn't even know there were fast clones. LOL. Let me know when you finish the update. I'd like to blog about it. Search YouTube for 'ZXMore' and you will find one in action. I'm currently down to 7180 bytes and running on a ZX81 with 8K. I'll let you know when I'm done. Thanks, Shaun.

Thanks @RWAP for reaching out. I'm in the forums already! Sorry, I don't post as often as I should. @Shaun_B, glad you found my site! But, that link is my older site. Re: Kaleidoscope simulator

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I could make each version appear to be circular rather than square. Let me think about that one. Should be easy enough.

Shaun.

Re: SPeccy ON the ZeddY

@siggi: Excellent - are you also able to 'back up' so that instance auto-loads on each boot?

Also, could you give me a step-by-step guide so that I don't go wrong please?

Thanks,

Shaun.

Re: Kaleidoscope simulator

Hi,

I made a version using PRINT AT rather than PLOT; this will work on 2K machines or better.

Edit - I decided to make it 1K to save you the trouble :-)

Regards,

Shaun.

Kaleidoscope simulator

Here's a Kaleidoscope simulator in BASIC. I made some small alterations to the original:

Press any key but SPACE, 0 and V to 'turn' the Kaleidoscope.
Press 0 to auto-turn.
Press V to clear and start again (stop the auto-turn simulation for clear to work).
Press SPACE to break out.

Regards,

Shaun.
