Re: Repairing ZX Spectrum issue two
Well, I bought a new original box and installed my repaired Spectrum, so it now looks and works like new (except for the fact that the video output is now AV instead of RF). I have also tested it and it works fine, apart from problems loading games from the mobile phone via the audio amplifier (in t...

Re: Repairing ZX Spectrum issue two
I am currently testing my repaired ZX Spectrum and I have noticed something strange. When loading programs, the loading fails if the sound is either too quiet or too loud. If the sound is very loud, loading will not start at all. I can understand that a sound that is too quiet can be a problem, but...

Re: Reset button for ordinary ZX Spectrum
The type that go between the PSU output and the Spectrum, it does not matter which wire (polarity) is switched, as the Sinclair PSUs have isolated floating outputs (no connection to actual mains earth/ground). As long as you don't try to use a splitter lead before the switched lead. Thank you, that...

Re: Reset button for ordinary ZX Spectrum
Or you could use a 'work around' of buying a 2.1mm power lead with a on/off switch. Yes, that also occurred to me. After all, it's the least invasive solution. I have already ordered two from AE. The problem is that they will probably cut the earth wire instead of the power wire. I am curious if th...

Reset button for ordinary ZX Spectrum
Since my old ZX Spectrum was no longer in its original case, I bought a new original one. What I still miss about the original case is that it does not have the reset button that the old case had. What is your advice? One option would be to get a cable with a switch. The other is to make a small hol...

Re: ZX Spectrum load tape from android phone - Low Volume
Hello, I solved the problem by buying three things (total cost cca. $5): - LM386 audio amplifier: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10000035036572.html - splitter power cable: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005468817233.html - reverse polarity power cable: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10050034...

Re: Repairing ZX Spectrum issue two
Hello all, I would just like to add a follow-up post. In the power supply, I replaced the (nonoriginal) 1.5Ω resistor used to reduce the voltage at the input of the ZX Spectrum with a cheap DC-DC Step Down 9V 5A . supply_final.jpg Now I have a flawless 9V output. The pictures below show the situatio...

Re: Repairing ZX Spectrum issue two
I already have this cable at home. I tried using PlayZX and the sound is so quiet the programs sometimes do not want to load. I tried with another smartphone and it is even worse. That's really odd, as with my Xperia 10 iv I don't need full volume, 3/4 works fine, every time Tried three different S...
