Re: EPROM cart won’t catalogue and caused hard reset
Sounds like it's time to whip out the desoldering tool.

Re: Faulty Z88 - common problems?
The high pitch whine is a good think. Means the super cap is charging Not sure this is true. To my understanding, the supercap charges via one of the DC rails, not a charge pump or inverter, so it shouldn't make any sound at all. High-pitched whine usually means a bad switching power supply; IIRC, ...

EPROM cart won’t catalogue and caused hard reset
I have a 32k EPROM cart that previously had PCLink burned on it, so I know it works. I have run it through an EPROM eraser three times for a total of an hour and a half of exposure; it still will not catalogue. Today, after the third erase cycle, I plugged it in (after switching to Index like I’m su...

Why does OZ only support certain flash chips?
I've never encountered this in any of the retro hacking projects I've participated in. As long as the pinout, cycle time, and memory type are the same, what are the differences?

Alternate low-profile IC socket option for internal 512k upgrade
I found a socket solution that doesn't require cutting the keyboard frame. Mill-Max 0548 receptacles install in the existing PCB holes and only add about a millimeter of height vs the soldered-in chip.

Z88 Source Book re-mastered for printing
I needed a project to familiarize myself with a new piece of software (Affinity Publisher) to replace my ancient copy of InDesign, so here y'all go: a re-mastered copy of the Z88 Source Book, ready to be double-side printed and spiral bound. Re: Z88 LCD panel
Now I know I just said I really don't want to give up daylight readability...but through the wonders of direct marketing from China, there is a TFT LCD that fits into the existing case volume nicely and doubles the vertical screen real estate, like so: z23 main.png Z23 1.png There's also a TFT LCD t...

Re: Z88 Source Book
Had this same idea, but went a little further with it. This version is fully typeset, all typos fixed, some slight reordering for clarity, and ASCII graphics re-drawn in vector format. Facing pages ready to print double-sided for spiral binding or the like. Have not finished editing the addend...

How to get author permissions on the Jira website?
There are so, SO many errors and misinformation (referring to the main ROM as a serial ROM??) and dead links (every Diamond or Square key image in the user manual, mention of a Bluetooth serial adapter, but the internal link self-references and the external link points to a forum which no longer exi...
