Re: Cosmic Payback - ZX81 edition
I have found the cause of the star rendering bug displayed on certain machines - it was an oversight in the star video driver, reading back from the $c000 to $ffff region and expecting it to be a mirror of the 16K RAM. This meant that the data read to set the I-page for the next row of stars was wro...

Re: Cosmic Payback - ZX81 edition
Thanks for your interest! I hadn't considered a physical cassette release, but if there's enough enthusiasm for it, and a publisher interested in taking it on, then I'd be more than happy to do so.

Hi all, I have finished porting my 3D ZX Spectrum game, Cosmic Payback , to the 16K ZX81. You control a spherical pod, bouncing through space and retrieving all of the flashing tiles (which represent gold). Please find attached to this post some screenshots and, more importantly, the ZIP folder cont...

Re: Cosmic Payback ZX81 (coming soon...)
Thanks! I might port it to another system someday, if it catches my interest, but not for a long while - I'd like to get back to writing new games instead

Re: Cosmic Payback ZX81 (coming soon...)
Yep works on real zeddy and ZXpand, what I imagine are the stars in the background turn into lines as it runs so not sure if that is normal or not, otherwise yes great stuff. Yes, my apologies for that. The trouble seems to be caused by the ZXpand overlay ROM - I've now patched the game to disable ...

Cosmic Payback ZX81 (coming soon...)
Hi all, I'm pleased to announce that I will soon be releasing a ZX81 port of my Spectrum game, "Cosmic Payback", a 3D platform-puzzle game involving a bouncing ball in space. I had originally intended to release this today, the 5th of March, in honour of the ZX81's 44th anniversary. However, there a...

Re: Linux version of ZX-IDE
On Ubuntu, for executables that aren't installed in the system path, you have to explicitly state which directory the executable is in. For example, if you're in the same folder as the executable, you type: ./FASM where "./" means "this directory". Remember also that Ubuntu is case-sensitive, unlike...

Thanks! Glad you like it
I'm interested by your mention of an optimised hires model. Would you happen to have a link to an ASM template, or be able to describe the steps necessary?
