Sinclair Building

Went for a spot of fresh air whilst waiting for my car to be serviced in Cambridge today. For no other reason than a trip to memory lane I wandered past the Sinclair Building. I studied in that building too during the late 80’s and early 90’s after it was taken over by Anglia Ruskin— then Cambridge ...

Re: Internal AY-8912, has anyone tried it?

The tracker for the Zxpand and ZX81 can be found here.. https://www.sinclairzxworld.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=556&hilit=ay+tracker Be aware that like the players it is meant for ZXpand and ZX81 use only and uses it's own format for songs, samples etc and is not compatible with say the spectrum tracker...

Re: Internal AY-8912, has anyone tried it?

Apart from the rare bit of software using AY the only other use for AY is for the tracker software or PT3/STC players in which apart from Yerz and myself nobody has shown any interest in, and come to think of it now Yerz has married and retired from the AY scene that leaves just me. I have an AY-89...

Re: The ZXpand and the Minstrel situation

Yes, the ZXpand itself is the same, but what I was trying to say, was that at one time a package of a ZXpand, including the relevant ROM for use with a ZX80 and the ribbon extender cable we’re being sold for use with ZX80 computers. Although I think the ribbon extender cable was also available sepa...

Re: TFW8bit composite mod board

I can’t disagree with Moggy. Whether you just attack the existing modulator board from the top (with electricians wire cutters and other suitable tools) or desolder it and attack the existing board from below, is up to you... The last one where I did it properly, was a ZX80. That got some new elect...

Re: Jupiter ACE (again)

For the data bus, the normal practice is to pull it up to VCC rather than leave it floating (which will be case should the Z80 try to read any unimplemented memory or IO address). As I wrote on StarDot... There’s no need to have pull-up resistors on the buffered address lines, as the 74xx244 buffer...

Re: Jupiter ACE (again)

Hi Folks, As a follow-on to my Ace backplane extender, I decided that for any useful length of cable that I do need a buffered solution. Bufferd some control signals, data and address bus. What are people's thoughts on the attached draft where I've attempted to buffer data and address lines? Comment...

Re: Jupiter ACE (again)

Now my edge connector boards are back and built, the Ace is now ready to expand! I started with a 30cm cable as that's all I had spare, but if I can get it long enough I will move it to the other side of the case where the expansion slot hole is. I might get a 40cm cable and try that first. IMG_7749...
