Looks like it was the DC Barrel connector, I swapped it from another Spectrum that is undergoing repairs and the display stays birght.. I have been in touch with the original owner of the zeddy. Turns out he lent it to someone who used the worng power supply on it, probalby with a center negative plug, this is probably what blew out the ULA.
