Re: What to do with an unusual ZX81?
I have come across a few of these but haven’t ever refurb’d one. Not ridiculously rare but I wouldn’t change one other than any necessary repairs.
There are probably a few in here!

Re: ZX Spectrum +2a issue with all expansion cards
I had a +3 where if I plugged in my DIVMMC future and didn’t get it in exactly the right place it either wouldn’t boot or would give a garbled screen. The edge connector was cleaned.
I always assumed it was worn and therefore would only make contact and work in certain spots.

Chroma 80
This arrived today:
Many thanks to http://www.fruitcake.plus.com/Sinclair/ ... erface.htm
I can finally get some use out of my 80. Even on my black and white portable the picture was pretty poor on RF.
Now all I need is time to figure it all out!

Re: RAM speed issue
I have not had to go above 100pF to get hires working. So far they have worked on 47 to 100pF

Re: I've borked it
I always just email Mark directly about the chips. I don’t know if he lists them in his shop.
Anything goes well with battered cod if you add enough salt.

Re: I've borked it
I just use one of these and a socket. I get them from Mark at RetroClinic:
You do need to ‘tune’ them with a capacitor for hires. There is a post somewhere about it.
