Re: Spectrum 128K toastrack jail bars?

I think you have to replace all caps initially. Then replace C28 with a 47uF capacitor (original is 22uF, right of the 5 way keyboard connector) Replace caps C7 and C8 with 1uF ceramic capacitors (next to IC12 and IC13 RAM chips, bottom left of the board). You could also add 1uF caps underneath the...

For jailbar reduction you could add caps to the memory chips.. https://youtu.be/R_E3eX3Gtas The vertical white lines was something I came across before, the RGB signal was too strong for the monitor, and I was able to adjust monitor settings to fix https://m.facebook.com/story/graphql_permalink/?gr...

Does seem a ‘little’ (lot) excessive!

Re: New to repairing ZX's

It will probably be worth cleaning the legs on the Mostek RAM - they always seem to tarnish badly.

Re: New to repairing ZX's

Your second one has a quite early ULA at 8106. Nice. As most of the chips are socketed you could try swapping them around and may get a working zeddy. Thanks, but I'd rather repair them both. Gotta keep these 8bit machines running! I keep buying BBC's as 'spares' machines. But so far I've managed t...

Re: Hello!

Welcome on board!
To be a bit controversial I quite like the Apple II and have a Europlus I am in the process of getting usable. I used to go round a friends house and play Bard’s Tale and Wizardry on one a lifetime ago so its a nostalgia thing. :D

Re: Maxduino or Tzxduino firmware for a ZX81?

I have bought several of these from the same seller. I have the MaxDuino firmware installed - as well as working with the ZX81 it also works with my Oric 1, among others. I guess if you only ever intend to use it with the ZX81 it doesn’t matter too much? Bit more info here: https://www.sinclairzxwor...

Re: Spectrum+ 128K ToastracK RAM faults?

The built in Retroleum checks didn’t report any errors.

Neither did the Brendan Alford tests this time...

I will let it run in soak test mode for a while to see if needs to warm up a bit before it reports errors.

Edit: Update - 30 iterations without error. So most likely a dirty connection.
