Re: New ZX80 cases
An original case is scanned, similar to 3D printer scanners and the resultant cut outs identified. A jig is manufactured to hold the cases rigid and then a CNC milling machine is used to do the cut outs and the holes. In all there are 3 different stages and 3 different manufacturers involved. The ha...

Re: New ZX80 cases
Hi Daeve, After going through a very steep learning curve here and a month of work, phone calls and meetings, it depends on what you want to achieve. 3D printing is fine if you want a 1 off and not too bothered if its a close mock up. Vacuum forming is hellishly expensive when you consider that mach...

Re: New ZX80 cases
The 4 versions are quite simple, its the hole for the antenna connector, looking from the rear, the UK etc the hole is nearest the power socket on the left, the USA version its next to the edge connector on the right. Most clones its dead centre and there will be a version available with no hole at ...

Re: New ZX80 cases
I think £55 sounds ok. I'd have one for my Russian clone. Getting anything produced is a pain though isn't it, especially for such an old niche like the ZX80. You can never know how many will sell, and the last thing you want to do is make too many so that you either have to sell them for a dumping...

Re: New ZX80 cases
The difficult factor here is predicting quantity, on small runs the price is X amount, if i order double, it comes down, if i order 5 times the amount, the price comes close to 50% Yeah, I’m aware that the order volume affects the unit cost. Have you posted on the other Sinclair / ZX Spectrum forum...

New ZX80 cases
I've been working hard recently in getting together different manufacturers in order to produce an EXACT copy of the Sinclair ZX80 case, either the original, or the later injection moulded version. This case would be commercially manufactured using the exact same plastics, trimmed and cut out using ...

zx81 Keyboard...Sort of
Hi, Can anyone remember, way back in the 80's you could get separate key switches with removable key caps where you could put your own lettering? These keys looked very much like the keyboard on the old Sharp MZ80K computers. Does anyone have any of these or know where i could get some from? Failing...

Re: ZX96 Project
I will give it another shot, last time i didnt get much joy.
Ive found Kai's ZX very interesting. Other then the total ZX81 compatibility, his expansions are amazing, a lot of effort has gone into it.
