Re: Power Supply switching between ZX81 & Speccy
Composite mod with a 100uf cap in the circuit I've just had a tip on WOS to replace TR1 & 2, and install some 1uf caps in C5-8 to reduce the effects of the crawl, and will see whether it dwindles sufficiently when that's done

Re: Power Supply switching between ZX81 & Speccy
Interesting stuff... well hopefully our computer room won't have any massive shifts in temperature or humidity like you describe
Kind of like formation dancing of ants on the screen. Is that what people mean when they say "dot crawl"?gozzo wrote:.. 'shifting' interference????.....

Re: Power Supply switching between ZX81 & Speccy
:? Deep joy  The Speccy is completely re-capped now, and working well, apart from a little shifting interference on the screen when I'm processing summit. I'll bear in mind the gold-plated thing, but I thought that gold-plated was the bee's testiclons? Why is everyone going on about how good i...

Re: Re-capping a ZX81
I've done the Speccy, some of which were looking a little "iffy", and last night I even re-capped the old logic board out of my fridge freezer while I was replacing some blown components after it failed a few years back. Long story. I've got three 16k RAM packs to my name, one being the Memot...

Re-capping a ZX81
I've just finished a re-capping frenzy on my Speccy and Amiga, and was considering it for the Issue 3 Zed, but wanted to ask whether there are any issues to be aware of when re-capping one. There aren't a great many caps on board, so if I have to buy some in, I might try & get radials, as I don't li...

Re: Power Supply switching between ZX81 & Speccy
 ok... I will try. There's not much more I can do to the Zed now, but I'm currently girding up my loins to tackle the re-cap of my Speccy. I did my A1200 last night, which was quite fraught, mainly because most of the caps were SMDs and they were leaking, so I lost a couple of pads and had to b...

Re: Power Supply switching between ZX81 & Speccy
I tested the lead with a multi-meter before trying it live, and you'll be apathetic to know that it works just fine http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif The new plug on the Speccy lead also fixed its random resetting/going off problems http://www.britmodeller.c...

Job done. Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery
Shame I couldn't get a gold plated socket, but as I had 20 of them in stock, it would have been churlish to order another 1-5 just for the gold plating
