I took a snapshot of the UDG designer after loading in the test file. If you load this snapshot into your EightyOne, does it display as per my screenshots?

I've just loaded the test file back into the editor and character 0 and 191 display as I had edited them:

Chr191.png

In your screenshots, the I register is shown as 32 whereas in mine they are 33. For 128 character mode, the I register must be odd.

Yep. The attributes file always has exactly the same shape of the display file being used.

The problem is whereas at one time all 128 characters could be played with, now only the first 64 show any alteration and when used in a program only characters from the first 64 appear altered with any altered in the 128 region showing as the original character. Do you have WRX enabled in EightyOne? WRX is not compatible with UDGs.

The UDG board creator also wrote a nice simple no complications UDG designer for the zeddy which used to work in Eighty One but now for some reason only works on the first 64 characters Can you point me at where I can download the UDG designer? I did not get colour when writing to dfile+#8000 (atrribute mode). What am I doing wrong? Do you have a working exemple? I've put together a quick example. Your new approach got me thinking and I've came up with a twist on your original idea and put together a simple 1K demo.

And technically this technique would work on the ZX80 also, and so that's 44 years that no one else has thought of this!
