8bit wars project and the ZX81 game
8 bit wars
==========
Andy Remic started his "8 bit wars"-project and needed games for several systems.
I started coding this game for the project and sent him the game.
Andy was enthousiast about the game for the ZX81 but unfortunately the project ended
earlier when Andy passed away. I am releasing this game now as a tribute to Andy so everybody
can enjoy the game.
This game is far from easy, discussion about the game can be done in this topic.
Have fun with this tribute game

Has anyone managed to pass the first test?, type the alphabet
I can't get it, neither writing backwards nor pressing the keys in a row

Re: 8bit wars project and the ZX81 game
Start at Q move your finger over all keys to P
go down to L move back to A,
go to Z and move to M.
Check all keys pressed.

The keyboard reading does not work well with some emulators, I have tried in linux with EightyOne (on wine) and with sz81. With Retroarch it works
I'm not sure if I've finished the game, is the last screen the one that says LEVEL COPY?

EightyOne is fine to do first level.salvacam wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 11:45 amThe keyboard reading does not work well with some emulators, I have tried in linux with EightyOne (on wine) and with sz81. With Retroarch it works

LEVEL COPY needs a firing at that text.
Re: 8bit wars project and the ZX81 game
In my blog post about this game I have written a guide to finish the game.

Hi Johan, hope you're good and thanks for continuing with what you do.
Just found this but for some reason the game freezes after I walk in the box on level 1. The message to type in the alphabet comes up with clock, but there's no response when in press any, or all the keys. Not sure if there's an update, or anybody else has had the same thing.
Any ideas?

The game should work, time starts after accepting the first key. Tip: order is allowed different from A to Z.
Re: 8bit wars project and the ZX81 game
The same thing happened to me with the sz81 emulator, with the Retroarch core and I think that with EightyOne it works well.Its1982again wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 7:35 am Hi Johan, hope you're good and thanks for continuing with what you do.

I haven't tried it on a real ZX81
