Have you been at the cooking sherry again Charles!!? :lol:

@Lardo

There's a fan here that might be worth having if only for its performance in restricted spaces and at this price worth a punt I would have thought.

Well apart from China-bay cheap and cheerfuls I found these at RS components...

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/hvac-fans ... 4294885616

The second one down priced at £4.38 looks reasonable although there others to choose from different voltages and so on.

I forgot to mention that the fan I used has a 40 x 40mm frame size with 10mm depth, which fits snugly whilst leaving bags of room and personally would not consider anything smaller.

My method was to run a 12v fan off 5v which remains very quiet yet adequate from a flow point of view.
For any future modding rather than try cutting a square hole i would just use a hole saw of the type pictured which should make the opening more than adequate and also mount the fan to the right of the slats which I would blank off in some fashion. I would also make a vent on the vertical front edge of the top case more or less in line with ULA which should allow a better airflow over the chip seeing as the expansion aperture will be semi closed off once a peripheral is attached.

NOTE:
This mod was used on a zeddy with a switching regulator not a standard regulator and heat-sink setup.
