Hi guys,
I'm from South Africa and have discovered recently a ZX80 lying in dust at work for 20 years plus. Thought I share a couple of pics. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum section. I attached the pictures, hope it shows. Regretfully no power supply.
Regards
Johan

Hi Johan and welcome to the forum.
God I wish I could find things like that at work!!
A nice ZX80 You have there but with the ZX81 keyboard overlay which suggests it was upgraded some time in its life with the ZX81 ROM chip.
Still extremely desirable for Sinclair enthusiasts and usable even today, look here for more details...

Again welcome aboard Johan

Hi there.
Well, should be possible to get the proper power-supply after all. Check out the data on Internet and take the machine to some electric shop. Somebody should be able to match a proper PSU for You.
PS: It's easy to advise but harder to take own advice, hahah - for weeks now I should do the same with one the newest ZX Spectrums - Speccy2010 - and cannot force myself.

Welcome on board Johan!
The most important thing about any replacement power supply, is that the polarity is correct. The tip must be positive (a 3.5mm mono jack plug is used).
The voltage should be between 8V DC and 10V DC. It can be an unregulated or regulated type. It should supply at least 500mA (0.5A) (a higher current rating is okay). If using the 16k RAM pack, an unregulated 9V power supply rated at 700mA (0.7A) or more is recommended.
More details here
Mark
Edited due to, well, a silly error. For some stupid reason I wrote 2.5mm mono jack plug instead of 3.5mm

Re: New member
Also welcome!
Actually it's a 3,5mm plug, not 2,5mm
Kind regards
Paul

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

D'oh! What was I thinking - I did know that! All the jack sockets on the Sinclair ZX machines are 3.5mm.Paul wrote:Also welcome!

Hi guys,
Strange as it may seems I cannot get hold of a power supply with the correct socket. I live in a quite small town with not much electronic/electric hardware stores. Maybe it is better to let it go. If one of you like to make me an offer let me know. Please keep in mind I am from South Africa
