Re: ZX Printer Belt

Post by zioclive »

Good Morning everyone, well I'm very happy that my guide to "REBUILD THE ZX PRINTER'S BELT " is still usefull. :D to someone.

I've made it a lot of years ago, I'm happy that the guide can help some friend but I'm at the same time I'm sad that is still nowday the only one :| .

Actually I don't have to much time to spend to my beloved Zx "stuff", but I still have some ideas that can improve the original project making it simpler to make and more efficient.

Please let me thank my friend Rich and all the Rwap Team for the incredible work made in those years.

Ciao from Italy

Many thanks - Dave Park in the USA has a printer and belt and is looking at making some new belts with the various bits of technology he has access to at work - laser cutters, milling and moulding machines and 3D printers...

I have the same problem, the belt of my ZX-Printer, which is a plastic material, disintegrated. How I can obtain a new or used?.

A few prototypes have been made to test the parameters, and adjustments are being made, so no sign of replacement belts as yet....n ;)

Hey Guys!

Yes, there is a Project :P At least we are thinking of ways. I have made contact to a german producer and will meet him soon. I have a Printer-Belt that is ok so maybe we can reproduce it.

Greetings
Jens (German ZX-TEAM)
eyerything will be okay in the end.
if it´s not okay, it´s not the end.

By the looks of these links, maybe this belt can be used with a stample. Seems like the right size.

@mrtinb
Cannot comment on your first example but speaking as a former Makita(not Mikita as in the ad) service centre owner, the second example will not work as it is far too stiff for this application.

Should the whirring clanking mess that was the ZXprinter ever find a belt making saviour it will then need to find a supplier for its even more ridiculous aluminised paper and flimsy styli.

As much as I love Uncle Clive and all his wonderful creations this one should have been killed at birth. I have two Alphacoms both bought new back then, both in regular use, paper readily available and with no moving styli (uses heated pin plate) virtually nothing to wear out.

I also have a box with six knackered ZXprinters not one of which managed a full months duty before giving up the ghost and even when working printed very badly in comparison to the Alphacoms And before you say it Rich( we have discussed it before a long time ago) the print fades no more than the ZXpaper does.

This is an upside though I have about forty rolls of ali' paper left thus making me the biggest ZX paper stockist in the world!!

All slightly tongue in cheek of course. ;)
