A furry ZX81

Post by RWAP »

I came across a ZX81 which had been put into a home made case, and thought I would share some pictures - the furry green baize on the outside is a cute touch, but the case is a little oversized (as is the power supply)..

It uses a Maplin full sized keyboard project, but I am not sure where the joystick comes from! The RAM pack is also something to behold

Back in the day Maplin used to sell "open" uncased joysticks. They did a switch type and may have done a potentiometer (variable resistor) type.
The one pictured could have been one of the switch types.

I like that color.

Well you could fix a display on top as this case is big enough to build a 80's computer like Commodore PET. 8-)

I would guess it is a Maplin joystick (I can of course open it up if required) - it is wired directly to the Maplin Keyboard

Is anyone interested in taking this off my hands for the cost of postage (it will be a fair amount mind as it is heavy!) - I find it just isn't as relaxing as my furry pet!
