Re: RF Video Distortion

Thanks to XorA reminding me about the adjustments needed for the later ULA chip, I've now got a functional Zed after much faffing about. Apart from forgetting the last and crucial aspect of the conversion to composite using Pokemon's excellent mini-board, I'm quite pleased with both my soldering and...

Re: RF Video Distortion

Oooh... have I got one of the newer ULAs? I'd forgotten to check, but you're probably right  Will attack it with a small screwdriver shortly :)

I really am being a bit dense today

Re: Query on a Issue 1 ZX81

I've decided to keep Zed1 (as it is now known) as stock and play about with Zed2, which is a bit poorly as I type this. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1395 :(

Re: RF Video Distortion

Bah humbug! :( I've connected up the CCB to the Zed, using a nice tidy install inside the modulator box, but now all I get is a blank screen on a composite input off my TV. Plugging and unplugging the power causes a brief flicker as whatever signal is lost, but that's it. My install mirrored the one...

Re: RF Video Distortion

That's brilliant information, thanks. I've got the board on the desk in front of me now, about to install your CCB module, and a visual inspection of TR1 shows nothing, but I suspect that's often the case. I'll put the CCB in and check further once it's done. If it resolves the problem, then I shall...

Re: RF Video Distortion

Thanks Moggy, I'll put a watch on that in case the CCB doesn't cure the issue :)

Re: RF Video Distortion

Thanks for the input guys... it won't hurt to try a RAM pack on - I have three plus a ZXp already! The machine is running via the modulator on a CRT TV at the moment... a great big one that takes up most of the desk! :geek: It doesn't do anything on the flat panel I have nearby, but that's a m...

RF Video Distortion

My replacement Zed arrived late last week, and straight out of the box I can see there's a bit of a problem with the TV picture, as you can see in the pic below: http://www.britmodeller.com/reviews/staff/mike/retro/zedex/zed2-screen1.jpg The further right on the screen you get, the worse the picture...

Re: Query on a Issue 1 ZX81

It all revolves around what I find when I undo the case of the new one - If it's tidy ROM and traces, it'll be all systems go. :D

Re: Query on a Issue 1 ZX81

As it happens, I've got another Zed on the way, as I was missing mine :( As long as this new one isn't a rarity, too, I'll probably apply any mods to it instead of my Issue 1. :)
