my chr$16 mod doesnt use any of the zx81's ram, as it has its own ram to store the 'bitmaps' so should work with ANY or even no add on ram if i can find the circuit i drew up a few years back i'll post it here, somewhere..never got round to building it but i think 'in theory' it should work...

ooh, will it work with 'normal' ram expansion or only work with zxpand? i was trying to work out a 'programmable' version of wilf righters chr$16 external thingy, and think i've got it, but as theres software that uses the dk tronics system, maybe thats better...OR does it work the same way? changin...

100% certain its for a spectrum , not only because of read data and restore statements, but the lower case letters and use of the poke to change character font !

aha, i worked out a possible way of doing that with wilf rigters external chr$ circuit, making it 'programmable', i never got round to building the thing to try it, if i can find the circuit (rough hand drawn) i'll scan it and post it here...

your machine has the earliest ula and this is lacking the 'back porch' part of the signal, so WILL give poor dark picture on a colour tv, even if its perfectly ok... it will usually be ok on a black & white set..the zxvid or zxccb will cure it by adding the back porch..dont worry too much about the ...

£28 each is far too expensive, especially as they are not fully tested and seller wont give refund if found partly duff..
